Webber the Red Nosed Wearer - Supports Comic Relief

10 March 2015

Students and staff from The Webber Independent School have embarked upon a week long fundraising pledge in support of ‘Comic Relief’ (Friday 13 March).  Sixth Formers are leading the School in numerous activities to engage all ages and raise vital cash for this incredible cause.  All nine varieties of Red Noses are being sold throughout the week and sponsored activities include selling marshmallows and sprinkle topped hot chocolates at break time, a 5 aside football tournament, beat the goalie competitions as well as a whole school mufty day.

Comic Relief (www.comicrelief.com) is a major charity based in the UK that strives to create a just world free from poverty. Their mission is to drive positive change through the power of entertainment. They raise millions of pounds through two big fundraising campaigns – Red Nose Day and Sport Relief. They spend that money in the best possible way to tackle the root causes of poverty and social injustice, also using the power of their brand to raise awareness of issues.

Principal Sue Vig said, “As with all fundraising initiatives, our students are proactive and enjoy taking part in specially planned activities.  Comic Relief is a hugely popular charity - we hope to smash our last fundraising amount and be able to give generously to this vital cause.  By the end of the week all the noses in Webber should be red and proud!”
